Integrate with Attentive Email for Grow
Integrate with Attentive Email for Grow
Updated yesterday

You can integrate your Retention.com account directly with Attentive to:

  1. Automatically send contacts acquired in your Retention.com account to Attentive.

  2. Suppress your existing contact list from Attentive in Retention.com

  3. Ability to set up custom filters to sync filters (ie, send leads from different domains to different lists or ESPs).

What you'll need

For this integration, you will need assistance from your Attentive CSM to set up a Marketing API Sign Up Unit and SFTP.

1. Your API Key and Sign-up Unit ID. Your Attentive CSM must create the Sign Up Unit for you, you must request this from them (using the Marketing API).

From your Attentive dashboard, go to Marketplace > Create app.

2. Give the app a name, and add your email address so Attentive can contact you if there are issues.

3. Set these permissions, and click Create.

4. Copy your API key. Be sure to save this because you won't be able to view it again.

5. Ask your Attentive CSM to create a Marketing API Sign-up unit for you for Retention.com Grow. Once completed, to find your Sign-up Unit ID, go to Sign-up Units. Scroll down to find your Marketing API, and copy the ID number next to it. That is your Sign-up Unit ID.

6. You will also need to enable SFTP in your Attentive account. Go to Settings > SFTP Account Management to check your access settings.

7. If you don't have an Attentive SFTP account, request SFTP access from your designated Attentive Client Strategy team member or their white glove team at whiteglove[at]attentivemobile[dot]com. You will be required to provide an email address that will be used to manage the SFTP account and reset the password.

8. Once you've done that, Attentive will send you an email with the account credentials. Click the link in the email to set a permanent password, and save the username and password. Those will be the FTP Username and FTP Password needed to set up the Attentive integration in Retention.com.

9. Once SFTP is enabled, email your Retention.com CSM and cc your Attentive CSM to request next steps for completing Suppression setup via SFTP in Attentive. We will work with them to create the necessary files.

To get started

1. Click on Integrations from the left navigation panel in Retention.com. Then, click Available Integrations at the top and choose the Attentive icon.

2. Paste your API Key, FTP Username, and FTP Password, and click Connect.

3. Enable the integration, and click Finish.

Once the integration is complete, you will see the integration date and API details. You can also Remove the integration from this page at the top.

4. Click Yes next to Contact Sync.

5. Paste your Sign-up Unit ID, and click Finish Setup.

6. Then, choose whether you want to enable custom sync options. If you check the box to enable custom sync options, that will display five options: filter by email domain, full or portion of a landing page URL, landing page domain, state, and referrer URL.

This feature allows you to filter your Retention.com contacts before you send them to your ESP. For example, you can send all contacts who hit different landing pages to separate lists. Or, send all of your California leads to one ESP and Texas leads to another.

Email domain: This field auto-fills/populates with email domains (ex. Gmail, Yahoo Mail, AOL, etc.) from your collected contacts.

Full or portion of a landing page URL: If you’ve put the script on several pages or the entire site, this field allows you to pull out contacts who have only hit Landing Page A or Landing Page B. This option does not auto-populate, so you will have to add in the exact URL.

Landing page domain: If you added script to both Retention.com and Robly.com, for example, the landing page domain would be either Retention.com or Robly.com. This field will auto-populate.

State: This filter allows you to pull out only contacts from one or more states.

Referrer URL: This is the URL the contact comes to your site from.

7. Save any changes made to the integration.

Remove the integration

1. To remove the integration, click Integrations > Dots > Remove.

Sync summary

You can view your daily sync history under Sync Summary on your integration page. It will show you the date, number of completions, if there are any failures, and the number that are in the queue.

To access all of your sync history, click View Full History under Sync Summary. If there's a failure, it will show the email address, what type of failure has occurred under ESP Feedback, and the date and time of the failure.
