Integrate with Ometria

You can integrate your Retention.com account directly with Ometria.

An integration between Retention.com and Ometria does four things:

  1. Automatically sends contacts acquired in your Retention.com account to Ometria into a static segment of your choosing.

  2. Automatically suppresses existing contacts in your Ometria account.

  3. Ability to set up custom filters to sync filters (ie, send leads from different domains to different lists or ESPs).

  4. Automatically sends Reclaim abandonment events to Ometria as custom events, powering your abandonment automations.

What you'll need

1. Your API Key. From your Settings in Ometria, click API Keys. Then, copy an existing API Key, or create a New API Key.

2. If you're using Reclaim, the Retention.com script must be installed and collecting on-site activity. Reclaim events are generated from your visitors' browsing and cart activity.

To get started

1. Click on Integrations from the left navigation panel in Retention.com. Then, click Available Integrations at the top and choose the Ometria icon.

2. Paste your API Key and click Connect.

3. Then, click Yes to upload your collected contacts. Pick a Static Segment from the drop-down menu. Next, choose whether you want to enable custom sync options.

If you check the box to enable custom sync options, that will display five options: filter by email domain, full or portion of a landing page URL, landing page domain, state, and referrer URL.

This feature allows you to filter your Retention.com contacts before you send them to your ESP. For example, you can send all contacts who hit different landing pages to separate lists. Or, send all of your California leads to one ESP and Texas leads to another.

Email domain: This field auto-fills/populates with email domains (ex. Gmail, Yahoo Mail, AOL, etc.) from your collected contacts.

Full or portion of a landing page URL: If you’ve put the script on several pages or the entire site, this field allows you to pull out contacts who have only hit Landing Page A or Landing Page B. This option does not auto-populate, so you will have to add in the exact URL.

Landing page domain: If you added script to both Retention.com and Robly.com, for example, the landing page domain would be either Retention.com or Robly.com. This field will auto-populate.

State: This filter allows you to pull out only contacts from one or more states.

Referrer URL: This is the URL the contact comes to your site from.

4. When you’re finished, click Next.

5. If you're using Reclaim, set Sync events? to Yes on the Reclaim sync step. This sends abandonment events to Ometria as custom events. If you're only using Grow, leave this set to No. Then click Next.

6. Enable the Ometria integration. Once you enable the integration, your suppression and collection sync settings will apply and begin. Then, click Finish.

7. Once the integration is complete, you will see the integration date, API details, contact suppression, and the option to set/change the static segment it’s synced to. You can also Remove the integration from this page at the top.

Reclaim events

If you're using Reclaim with Ometria, Retention.com sends abandonment events to Ometria as custom events. These power your abandonment automations.

Custom events must be created in Ometria before they will work. Ask your Ometria Customer Success Manager to set up custom events with these exact names:

Event

Custom event name

Active on Site

active_on_site_reclaim

Viewed Category

viewed_category_reclaim

Viewed Product

viewed_product_reclaim

Added to Cart

add_to_cart_reclaim

Checkout Started

checkout_started_reclaim

You only need the events you plan to build automations on, but the names must match exactly. They're lowercase, with underscores, and are case-sensitive.

Running more than one brand or storefront through a single Ometria account? Contact support@retention.com before setting these up. Your events may need different names per brand.

Integration settings

From your Integration settings, you can access, change, or update any of the following:

  • Your API key

  • Suppression settings

  • Grow Sync settings, including the list you're syncing contacts to

  • Reclaim Sync settings

  • Revenue metric

  • Sync summary

To access any of these settings, click Integrations > Dots > Settings.

Sync summary

You can view your daily sync history under Sync Summary on your integration page. It will show you the date, number of completions, if there are any failures, and the number that are in the queue.

Sync Summary covers contact syncs only. Reclaim events are not listed here.

To access all of your sync history, click View Full History under Sync Summary. If there’s a failure, it will show the email address, what type of failure has occurred under ESP Feedback, and the date and time of the failure.

If you have questions about the error message, you can contact support at support[at]retention[dot]com.
